Dr. William (Will) Pizio is a Professor of Criminal Justice at a small liberal arts college in the southeastern United States. He has been teaching criminal justice at that school for nineteen years but has taught in higher education for over twenty-three years. During this time, he has taught several first-year seminar courses and was the Director of the First Year Center at the college where he teaches. Prior to teaching at the college level, he was a Trooper for the New York State Police for six years.

He received his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York at Albany and more recently, he obtained a Master’s degree in Cyber security from Utica College. He is currently the Director of the Graduate Criminal Justice program at his college.

When Will’s wife Leanne suggested he put all his knowledge into a book around helping freshmen succeed, he took her up on it. He knew a book could reach far more students than he ever could one-on-one. His passion (and hope) is that this book get into the hands of as many high school Juniors/Seniors and college freshman as possible.

I’ve seen thousands of students come and go and I’ve seen first-hand what works and what doesn’t work. I wish someone had given me the advice in this book when I went to college. I made it, but it was double the effort that it needed to be. I’m dedicated to seeing students today find their path through college. And it’s so easy for them to succeed with solid guidance that’s proven itself to be right on target,” says Will.
